Round 1 March 13th v Harlequin

It was a case of who could get first round jitters out of the way first. Harlequins certainly got the jump on us early, scoring 9 out of the first 10 goals. We rallied however, and at the end of the 1st Q, we were down 8-10. This was due mainly to great defensive interceptions by Kirk and Fish.

The 2nd Q saw the inclusion of Sophie in GA (87%), and our shooting % improve, as well as extra defensive pressure down court. We out scored Harlequin, and went 17-20 up.

We didn’t really enjoy the long break, because the game changed completely for us. The last half saw us only score 10 goals for the last half, no where near enough to win the game. There was a total lack of supply into the forwards, due mainly to basic skill errors coming down court. Defensive pressure dropped off all the way down the court.

We lost the game 43-30, rather than Harlies winning it. A disappointing opening game!!
